M/T Assembly Removal

NOTE: Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.

1.Write down the frequencies for the radio's preset buttons. Disconnect the negative (-) cable first, then the positive (+) cable from the battery. Remove the battery.

2.Remove the air cleaner housing.

3.Remove the clutch line bracket (A), then carefully remove the slave cylinder (B) so as not to bend the clutch line. Do not operate the clutch pedal once the slave cylinder has been removed.

 

4.Disconnect the back-up light switch connector (A) and the reverse lockout solenoid connector (B), then remove the harness clips (C) and clamps (D).

 

5.Remove the cable bracket (A), then disconnect the cables (B) from the top of the transmission housing. Carefully remove both cables and the bracket together so as not to bend the cables.

 

6.Remove the air cleaner housing bracket (A) with the air cleaner housing stay (B).

 

7.Disconnect the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) connector (A), then remove the oxygen sensor connector (B) and harness clips (C) from the harness bracket (D).

 

8.Attach the engine hanger (A) to the air cleaner stay (B) with the 8 x 1.25 mm bolt (C) and the nut (D).

 

9.Attach the chain hoist to the engine.

10.Remove the one upper transmission mounting bolt.

 

11.Remove the transmission mounting nuts (A), then remove the transmission mounting bracket base bolts (B). Disconnect the ground cable (C).

 

12.Remove the stud bolts (A) and the transmission mounting bolt (B), then remove the transmission mounting bracket base (C).

 

13.Raise the vehicle, and make sure it is securely supported.

14.Remove the engine undercover.

 

15.Drain the transmission fluid. Reinstall the drain bolt.

16.Pry the driveshafts inboard joint.

17.Remove the clutch cover.

 

18.Place the transmission jack under the transmission.

19.Remove the lower torquerod (A).

 

20.Remove the lower torque rod bracket (A).

 

21.Remove the lower transmission mounting bolts.

 

 

22.Pull the transmission away from the engine until the transmission mainshaft clears the clutch pressure plate, then lower the transmission on the transmission jack.

23.Remove the boot (A), release fork (B), and release bearing (C) from the transmission (D).
