M/T Assembly Removal

NOTE: Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.

1.Write down the frequencies for the radio's preset buttons. Disconnect the negative (-) cable first, then the positive (+) cable from the battery. Remove the battery.

2.Remove the battery base.

3.Remove the air cleaner housing.

4.Remove the clutch line bracket (A), then carefully remove the slave cylinder (B) so as not to bend the clutch line. Do not operate the clutch pedal once the slave cylinder has been removed.

 

5.Disconnect the back-up light switch connector (A) and the reverse lockout solenoid connector (B), then remove the engine harness cover (C) and the harness clips (D).

 

6.Remove the cable bracket (A), then disconnect the cables (B) from the top of the transmission housing. Carefully remove both cables and the bracket together so as not to bend the cables.

 

7.Disconnect the vehicle speed sensor connector (A).

 

8.Remove the harness holder (A) and air cleaner housing bracket (B), then remove the breather pipe (C) and the harness holder stay (D).

 

9.Attach the engine hanger (E) to the engine using the 8 x 1.25 mm bolt (F) then attach the chain hoist to the engine.

10.Remove the upper transmission mounting bolts.

 

11.Remove the transmission mounting bolt (A) and nuts (B) then remove the ground cable (C). Remove the transmission mounting bracket base bolts (D).

 

12.Remove the stud bolts (A) and the transmission mounting bracket base (B).

 

13.Raise the vehicle, and make sure it is securely supported.

14.Remove the engine undercover.

 

15.Drain the transmission fluid. Reinstall the drain bolt.

16.Place the transmission jack under the transmission.

17.Separate the lower arm.

18.Pry the driveshafts inboard joint.


19.Remove the lower torque rod mounting bolts.

 

20.Remove the lower torque rod mounting bracket.

 

21.Remove the intermediate shaft.

 

22.Remove the clutch cover.

 

23.Remove the lower transmission mounting bolts.

 

 

24.Pull the transmission away from the engine until the transmission mainshaft clears the clutch pressure plate, then lower the transmission on the transmission jack.

25.Remove the boot (A), release fork (B), and release bearing (C) from the transmission (D).
