DTC Troubleshooting: P1384 (173-4)

DTC P1384:  Glow Plug Circuit Malfunction


NOTE: Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and review the general troubleshooting information.

1.Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

2.Clear the DTC with the HDS.

3.Do the GLOW ON/OFF the INSPECTION MENU with the HDS.

4.Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC P1384 indicated?


YES - Go to 5.


NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the glow plug control module and the ECM.n


5.Turn the ignition switch OFF.

6.Disconnect the glow plug control module 11P connector.

7.Measure resistance continuity between body ground and glow plug control module 11P connector terminals No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 individually.

 

Is there about 1.0 W?


YES - Go to 8.


NO - Repair open in the wire between the glow plug control module and each glow plug, then go to 11.


8.Disconnect all glow plugs 1P connector.

9.At glow plug side, measure resistance between each glow plug 1P connector terminal and glow plug body.

 

Is there about 1.0 W?


YES - Go to 10.


NO - Replace the glow plug, then go to 11.

10.Replace the glow plug control module.

11.Reconnect all connectors.

12.Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

13.Reset the ECM with the HDS.

14.Do the GLOW ON/OFF in the INSPECTION MENU with the HDS.

15.Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS.

Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated?


YES - If DTC P1384 is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the glow plug control module, the glow plug and the ECM, then go to 1. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.


NO - Troubleshooting is complete.n
