DTC Troubleshooting: P2199 (125-4)

DTC P2199:  IAT Sensor 1/2 Incorrect Voltage Correlation

NOTE:

1.Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

2.Clear the DTC with the HDS.

3.Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 2,000 rpm (min-1) without load (in neutral) until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle.

4.Test-drive under these conditions:
  • ECT SENSOR 1 above 80 °C (176 °F)
  • Transmission in 3rd gear
  • Vehicle speed between 40 km/h (25 mph) and 60 km/h (38 mph)

5.Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P2199 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.

Does the screen indicate FAILED?

YES - Go to 6.

NO - If the screen indicates PASSED, intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the MAF sensor/IAT sensor 1, the MAP sensor/IAT sensor 2 and the ECM, and check for poor connections or blockage in the intake air duct. If the screen indicates NOT COMPLETED, go to 4 and recheck.

6.Turn the ignition switch OFF.

7.Remove the MAF sensor/IAT sensor 1, and the MAP sensor/IAT sensor 2.

8.Allow the MAF sensor/IAT sensor 1 and the MAP sensor/IAT sensor 2 to cool below 25 °C (77 °F).

9.Note the ambient temperature.

10.Connect the MAF sensor/IAT sensor 1 to its 2P connector and the MAP sensor/IAT sensor 2 to its 2P connector, but do not install them into the intake air duct.

11.Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

12.Note the value of IAT SENSOR 1 and IAT SENSOR 2 quickly in the DATA LIST with the HDS.

13.Compare the value of IAT SENSOR 1 and the ambient temperature, and the value of IAT SENSOR 2 and the ambient temperature individually.

Does either sensor differ more than 35 °C (63 °F) from the ambient temperature?

YES - Replace the sensor that differed more than 35 °C (63 °F) from the ambient temperature, then go to 14.

NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or blockage in the intake air duct, then go to 14.

14.Install the MAF sensor/IAT sensor 1, and the MAP sensor/IAT sensor 2.

15.Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

16.Reset the ECM with the HDS.

17.Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 2,000 rpm (min-1) without load (in neutral) until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle.

18.Test-drive under these conditions:
  • ECT SENSOR 1 above 80 °C (176 °F)
  • Transmission in 3rd gear
  • Vehicle speed between 40 km/h (25 mph) and 60 km/h (38 mph)

19.Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS.

Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated?

YES - If DTC P2199 is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the MAF sensor/IAT sensor 1, the MAP sensor/IAT sensor 2 and the ECM, then go to 1. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.

NO - Go to 20.

20.Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P2199 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS.

Does the screen indicate PASSED?

YES - Troubleshooting is complete.n

NO - If the screen indicates FAILED, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the MAF sensor/IAT sensor 1, the MAP sensor/IAT sensor 2 and the ECM, then go to 1. If the screen indicates NOT COMPLETED, go to 18 and recheck.
