Front Subframe Side Member Replacement

Removal


1.Remove the engine undercover.

2.Remove the lower arm.

3.Remove the stabilizer bar.

4.Place the transmission jack (A) at the front subframe center member (B) and support it securely.

 

5.Remove the front subframe side member (A) mounting bolts (B).

NOTE: Use the new mounting bolts during reassembly.

 

6.Lower the transmission jack slowly until the front subframe has dropped about 30 mm (1.2 in.) from the mounting surface.

7.RHD type: Remove the steering gearbox from the subframe center member.

8.Remove the flange bolt (C).

9.Remove the front subframe center member (D) mounting bolts and nuts.

10.Remove the front subframe side member from the front subframe center member.

Installation


1.Loosely install the front subframe side member (A) to the front subframe center member (B) and the body.

 

2.Loosely install the new bolts and new nuts, and lightly tighten them.

3.RHD type: Install the steering gearbox to subframe center member.

4.Insert the alignment pins (C) into the alignment holes on the right and left, then align the front subframe center member and front subframe side member with the body.

5.Tighten the subframe mounting bolts and nuts to the specified torque values beginning with the rear side of flange bolt and flange nut (D), and the upper part of flange bolt (E).

6.Remove the alignment pins, and tighten the midle side of flange bolt and flange nut (F) to the specified torque values.

7.Tighten the remaining subframe mounting bolts to the specified torque value.

8.Install the stabilizer bar.

9.Install the lower arm.

10.Install the engine undercover.

11.Check the wheel alignment, and adjust it if necessary.
