Carpet Replacement

SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations and the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service.

NOTE:

1.Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, and wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.

2.Remove these items:


3.Disconnect the floor wire harness connectors. Detach the connector clip and the harness clips.

4.Remove the shift lever housing.

5.Remove the bolts securing the change lever base, and detach the harness clips.

6.Disconnect the SRS control unit connector, and detach the wire harness clip. Using a T30 Torx bit, remove the ground bolt.

7.Release the fasteners, then pull back the rear seat-back cover. Pass the rear seat belt buckles through the holes in the seat-back cover.

8.Detach the clips, then remove footrest (A). For the plastic type footrest removal, pry up at the gap(s) (B) with a trim tool.

 

9.Carefully insert a flat-tip screwdriver in under the accelerator pedal (A) next to the back up spring (B). While pushing down the spring, pull back the accelerator pedal, to release the hook (C).

 

10.Remove the bolts, then remove the center pipe extension (A).

 

11.Cut the carpet in the areas (A) shown. Release the fastener (B), and detach the clips, then pull the carpet (C) out from under the dashboard.

 

12.Pull seat harness (D) out through the hole in the carpet, then remove the carpet.

13.Remove the clip.

 

14.Install the carpet in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:

  • Take care not to damage, wrinkle or twist the carpet.
  • Make sure the seat harness and parking brake cables are routed correctly.
  • Check for damaged or stress-whitened clips, and if necessary, replace them with new ones.
  • Push the fasteners and clips into place securely.
  • Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.
  • Reset the clock.
  • Push the accelerator pedal hook into place securely, and after installing, make sure the accelerator pedal does not come the floor by pulling it back.
