ECM Replacement

NOTE: If the troubleshooting leads to replace the ECM after substituting a known-good ECM, reinstall the original ECM first, then do this procedure.

.Make sure you have the anti-theft code for the audio.

.Connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC) (A) located under the driver's side of the dashboard.

.Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

.Make sure the HDS communicates with the vehicle and the ECM. If it doesn't, troubleshooting the DLC circuit.

.Remove the battery.

.Remove the cover (A).

.Remove the bolts (D), then remove the ECM (E).

.Disconnect the ECM connectors A, B, and C.

NOTE: ECM connectors A, B, and C have symbols (A=¨, B=[utri], C=¡) embossed on them for identification.

.Install the ECM and the battery in the reverse order of removal.

.Except KN model: Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

NOTE: DTC P0630 ‘‘VIN Not Programmed or Mismatch'' may be stored because the VIN has not been programmed into the ECM; ignore it, and continue this procedure.

.Input the VIN to the ECM with the HDS.

.Rewrite the immobilizer code with the ECM replacement procedure in the HDS; it allows you to start the engine.

.Reset the ECM with the HDS.

.Do the ECM idle learn procedure.

.Do the CKP pattern learn procedure.

.Enter the anti-theft code for the audio and set the clock.
