M/T Assembly Removal

NOTE: Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces.

1.Make sure you have the anti-theft codes for the radio and the navigation system, then write down the frequencies for the radio preset buttons.
Disconnect the negative (-) cable first, then the positive (+) cable from the battery. Remove the battery.

2.Remove the driver's airbag and the steering wheel.

3.Remove the steering joint cover (A).

 

4.Make a mark (B) to the steering joint (C) and pinion shaft (D), then disconnect the steering joint and pinion shaft.

5.Remove the air cleaner housing.

6.Remove the battery base (A).

 

7.Remove the battery base bracket (B).

8.Disconnect the countershaft speed sensor connector (A), back-up light switch connector (B) and reverse lockout solenoid connector (C).

 

9.Carefully remove the slave cylinder without bending the clutch line. Do not press the clutch pedal once the slave cylinder has been removed.

 

10.Remove the air cleaner housing stay A and the air cleaner housing stay B

 

11.Remove the harness bracket (A). then remove the shift cable clips (B) then disconnect the shift cables (C) from the cable bracket (D).

 

12.Remove the cable bracket (A) from the top of the transmission housing.

 

13.Remove the harness caver (A) and the harness holder (B).

 

14.Remove the transmission upper mounting bolts (A).

 

15.Remove the engine cover.

16.Remove the harness caver (A). Attach the engine hanger (B) to the threaded holes in the cylinder head.

NOTE: The engine hanger should avoid and attach the fuel hose and the air hose.

 

17.Attach the chain hoist (C) to the engine.

18.Remove the transmission mount bolt (A), nuts (B) and the ground cable bolt (C).

 

19.Remove the stud bolts (A).

 

20.Raise the vehicle, and make sure it is securely supported.

21.Remove the engine undercover.

 

22.Drain the transmission fluid. Reinstall the drain bolt.

23.Separate the knuckle from the lower arm.

24.Separate the front stabilizer link.

25.Remove the lower torque rod mounting bolts.

 

26.Remove the cotter pin (A) from the tie-rod ball joint nut (B), then loosen the nut.

 

27.Separate the tie-rod ball joint and knuckle using the special tool.

28.Disconnect the EPS connectors.

 

29.Disconnect the exhaust pipe mounting rubber (A) from the front suspension subframe (B).

 

30.Support the subframe with a jack.

 

31.Remove the front suspension subframe with the steering gearbox.

 

32.Remove the inboard joint of driveshafts.

33.Remove the intermediate shaft.

34.Remove the intercooler pipe.

 

35.Place the transmission jack under the transmission, and remove the lower transmission mounting bolts.

 

 

36.Pull the transmision away from the engine until the transmission mainshaft clears the clutch pressure plate, then lower the transmission on the transmission jack.

37.Remove the boot (A), release fork (B), and release bearing (C) from the transmission (D).
