DTC P1704: | Clutch Pedal Position Switch A/B Circuit Incorrect Correlation |
1. | Turn the ignition switch ON (II). |
2. | Check CLUTCH PEDAL POSITION SWITCH A in the DATA LIST with the HDS. Is OFF indicated? YES - Go to 3. NO - Go to 5. |
3. | Press the clutch pedal. |
4. | Check CLUTCH PEDAL POSITION SWITCH B in the DATA LIST with the HDS. Is ON indicated? YES - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at clutch pedal position switch A, clutch pedal position switch B and the ECM.n NO - Go to 10. |
5. | Turn the ignition switch OFF, and wait 1 minute. |
6. | Disconnect clutch pedal position switch A 2P connector. |
7. | Disconnect ECM connector No. 2 (58P). |
8. | Check for continuity between clutch pedal position switch A 2P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground.
Is there continuity? YES - Repair short in the wire between clutch pedal position switch A and ECM connector No. 2 terminal No. 40, then go to 15. NO - Go to 9. |
9. | Check clutch pedal position switch A. Is clutch pedal position switch A OK? YES - Go to 20. NO - Adjust or replace clutch pedal position switch A, then go to 15. |
10. | Turn the ignition switch OFF, and wait 1 minute. |
11. | Disconnect clutch pedal position switch B 3P connector. |
12. | Disconnect ECM connector No. 2 (58P). |
13. | Check for continuity between clutch pedal position switch B 3P connector terminal No. 2 and body ground.
Is there continuity? YES - Repair short in the wire between clutch pedal position switch B and ECM connector No. 2 terminal No. 28, then go to 15. NO - Go to 14. |
14. | Check clutch pedal position switch B. Is clutch pedal position switch B OK? YES - Go to 20. NO - Adjust or replace clutch pedal position switch B, then go to 15. |
15. | Turn the ignition switch OFF. |
16. | Reconnect all connectors. |
17. | Turn the ignition switch ON (II). |
18. | Reset the ECM with the HDS. |
19. | Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated? YES - If DTC P1704 is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at clutch pedal position switch A, clutch pedal position switch B and the ECM, then go to 1. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting. NO - Troubleshooting is complete.n |
20. | Update the ECM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good ECM. |
21. | Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated? YES - If DTC P1704 is indicated, check for poor connections or loose terminals at clutch pedal position switch A, clutch pedal position switch B and the ECM, then go to 1. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting. NO - If the ECM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the ECM was substituted, replace the original ECM.n |
