Engine Oil Pump Chain Replacement

NOTE: Keep the oil pump chain away from magnetic fields.

Removal


1.Remove the drive belt.

2.Install the engine hanger to the idler pulley base, then attach the chain hoist using the sling belt and karabiner and support the engine.

3.Remove the cam chain.

4.Remove the oil pan.

5.Loosely install the crankshaft pulley.

6.To hold the rear balancer shaft, insert a 8 mm long pin punch (A) (Snap-on PPC110LA or equivalent) into the maintenance hole in the balancer shaft holder and through the rear balancer shaft.

 

7.Turn the crankshaft counterclockwise to compress the oil pump chain auto-tensioner.

8.Align the holes on the lock (A) and the oil pump chain auto-tensioner (B), then insert a 2.5 mm ( 0.1 in.) diameter pin or stopper ( P/N 13451-RBD- 003) (C) into the holes. Turn the crankshaft clockwise to secure the pin.

 

9.Remove the oil pump chain auto-tensioner.

 

10.Remove the oil pump chain guide (A) and tensioner arm (B), then remove the oil pump chain.

 

Installation


1.Set the crankshaft to top dead center (TDC). Align the TDC mark (A) on the crankshaft sprocket with the pointer (B) on the engine block.

 

2.Install the oil pump chain on the crankshaft sprocket with the colored link plate (A) aligned with the punch mark (B) on the crankshaft sprocket.

 

3.Install the oil pump chain on the oil pump chain sprocket with the punch marks (A) aligned with the two colored link plates (B).

 

4.Install the oil pump chain guide (A) and tensioner arm (B).

 

5.Install the oil pump chain auto-tensioner.

 

6.Remove the pin from the oil pump chain auto-tensioner.

 

7.Install the oil pan.

8.Install the cam chain.

9.Remove the chain hoist and engine hanger.

10.Install the crankshaft pulley.

11.Install the drive belt.
